Older & Bolder Aims:

bulletto promote wider learning opportunities for older people.
bulletto promote and actively create learning opportunities for those older people not normally involved in any such provision.
bulletto promote wider participation by older adults in all forms of learning.
bulletto better understand and subsequently facilitate the learning needs of those traditionally absent from most kinds of learning.
bulletto promote awareness of the contribution older people can and do make to learning and how that is achieved.
bulletto encourage partnerships between education providers, planners and funders, schools, voluntary and self help organisations and other interested agencies in developing provision and influencing appropriate strategies.
bulletto recognise and promote choice of learning for older people for their own purposes: for personal interest, for work or for fun.
bulletto ensure that transition between different levels and/or kinds of learning is known, accessible and made as easy as possible.
bulletto increase the involvement of the providers of mainstream educational provision.
bulletto recognise and promote the breadth of provision available, the diversity of providers and the flexibility of delivery.
bulletto promote good practice in education and training for older people, recognising the needs of carers and support workers.
bulletto influence policy in all areas that might affect provision and participation.
bulletto develop a United Kingdom wide perspective working with the relevant agencies in Scotland as well as England and Wales.
bulletto learn from and contribute to wider European experience and networks.

To attain these ends, Older & Bolder:

bulletawards the Fred Moore Older & Bolder Institutional Awards annually to examples of outstanding and replicable good practice - presented to organisations which have shown exceptional innovation and commitment in delivering quality learning opportunities to adults.
bulletfacilitates the development of local and regional collaborative working.
bulletgathers data to further the debate and influence future educational and social policy.
