Paper on mental health, employment, learning and trainingA Summary of the NIACE contribution to the Position Paper for the South East Mental Health Employment Partnership This paper identifies evidence based practice around mental health and employment, learning and training. After explaining the NIACE perspective the paper looks at government drivers such as the Leitch review and plans from the Social Exclusion Unit. The drivers from the national LSC are covered next, followed by the regional LSC for the South East vision and strategy with an estimate of progress to date for learners with mental health difficulties. The next section describes the features of good practice in learning and skills for people with mental health difficulties giving examples of such good practice in the south east. It considers the role of volunteering in developing learning, skills and employability and the estimated present level of provision for learners with mental health difficulties in the south east region.
