Basic Skills in Local Communities

Project Status: Completed

[Duration] [Aims] [ Key Partners ] [Funder] [Target Group] [Progress] [Key Staff] [Contact]

Duration of project

Start: September 2003
End:
End of March 2004

Aims

NIACE successfully tendered to Monitor, Support and evaluate this LSC sponsored fund. It is working with Local LSCs to develop projects, which engage people in Literacy, Language and Numeracy (LLN) activities in Local Neighbourhoods or in community groups and organisations.

The work builds on work developed over the past 3 years and will be celebrated in the spring with a national Conference.

Building on the success of its regional work, more staff are being recruited to focus on promoting, supporting and celebrating achievement in Literacy, Language and Numeracy (LLN). The new roles will work closely with the existing regional team as well as with the increasing regional networks of staff concerned with the Skills for Life agenda. The emphasis of the work will be achievement of all kinds including non-accredited activities as well as the national qualifications and tests.
