ResearchRegional Development Officers initiate project work and consultancy in their regions, often in partnership with other organisations like:
The Regions Team maintains a research unit to provide support and management to these projects. Such support may include:
In the case of larger, ongoing projects, to write and / or collate information for interim reporting to funders (for example, the DfES). The unit also gives generic administrative support to Regional Development Officers for tasks like the maintaining databases of contact details, organising events which are held by the Regional Development Officer’s in their region, to disseminating the outcome of project work, and providing assistance in the preparation of publications. (Both in terms of producing publication quality text and helping to manage publication / production process.) In addition to this support role, the Research unit has undertaken to support a range of projects originating with other teams across NIACE, but which have a regional aspect. This allows the research team to provide research support for such projects at the same time as contributing specialist knowledge and intelligence about the English Regions, and allow other teams to capitalise upon the unit’s experience running projects on a regional basis.
